Tretinoin

Start using tretinoin at a low concentration (0.025% or 0.01%) to minimize irritation. Gradually increase the concentration as your skin tolerates it, ideally under dermatological guidance.

Expect initial dryness, peeling, and redness. This is normal! Combat this by incorporating a gentle, hydrating cleanser and a moisturizer into your routine. Apply tretinoin at night, after cleansing, to a completely dry face.

Sunscreen is non-negotiable. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher every day, even on cloudy days. Tretinoin increases your skin’s sun sensitivity, making sun protection paramount to prevent sun damage and hyperpigmentation.

Be patient. Results take time; noticeable improvements may appear after several weeks or months of consistent use. Don’t get discouraged by initial side effects – persistence pays off. Consult your dermatologist for personalized advice and to address any concerns.

Remember: Tretinoin is a powerful medication. Always follow your dermatologist’s instructions carefully. Discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional if you experience severe irritation or allergic reactions.
